About PATHS Forward
PATHS Forward is a leadership development program designed to prepare promising African-American professionals to participate as leaders in the local community. The program, which introduces the prospective leaders to basic leadership skills, volunteerism, the Tarrant County community, working with non-profit organizations, and other leadership topics, is delivered over a 9-month period. The experience will include opportunities to meet and participate in discussions with successful entrepreneurs, corporate businessmen/women and civic leaders. Certificates will be awarded for completion of the six sessions and a service project. Optional events, providing more networking opportunities, will be provided throughout the program.
By the end of the program participants will have:
- Gained an appreciation for how their personal strengths, leadership weaknesses and talents impact their leadership capabilities.
- Honed effective, persuasive speaking skills through the exploration and adoption of innovative strategies for oral, written, and non-verbal communications.
- Developed an understanding of the Fort Worth/Tarrant County Metropolitan area, the leaders, the entities including non-profits and created a service project that serves the community.
- Explored the world of entrepreneurship and “intrapreneurship”, defining leadership characteristics that are common to both.
- Created strategies for on-going leadership development to achieve professional and personal success, including leveraging traditional networking and social networking.
